International Rice Festival!

Rice is the most important food in Asia. Other country often eat rice also, but the rice is a different kind of rice. So IRF(International Rice Festival) is held in Korea every year. Every year more than 10 country, more than 150,000 people head for Jeon-ju, South Korea.
There are various kind of events. One of them is a rice cake competition. Rice Cakes are made of every kinds of rice. The team which make the most delicious, characteristic rice cake will win the competition.  The most parpular event is Rice Boarding. All of people who are in the festival can slide over the rice in a sleigh. There is rice sleigh ground!!!! After festival, the used rice is used to make rice cakes, and they will be given to people participate in.

1. Grammar – Passive Causative

Subject + have/get + object + P.P. + (by agent)

If your car broke down, you have to get it fixed
So you had it fixed by a mechanic.

        and you give him advice!!
        - You should get(have) it cut (by a barber : it's not important)!

ex3) situation : your friend said to you - 'my teeth hurt!'
        and you give him advice!!
        - You should get(have) it looked out (by a dentist : even if you don't tell this, he can understand)!

you're getting something done to something by someong/something else

2. English Idioms & Phrasal Verbs - ON

ON the hour : something is happening all the time

3. WRITING : RELATIVE CLAUSES

My sister who is from Chicago visited me last weekend.
: This means, I have more than one sister. I'm talking about one from Chicago. <identifying clause>

My sister, who is from Chicago, visited me last weekend.
: This means, I only have one sister. - extra information <non-identifying clause>
If I want to give more information about it, I can put 'comma'

LISA HANNIGAN - I DON'T KNOW

This song is one of my favorite songs
and its lyrics has some lists.

I don't know if you drive
if you love the ground beneath you
I don't know if you write letters or panic on the phone
still I'd like to call you all the same,
if you want to, I am game.

I don't know if you can swim
or if the sea has any draw for you
if you're better in the morning
or when the sun goes down
I'd like to talk to you

I don't know if you can dance
if the thought ever occurred to you
if you eat what you've been given
or push it round your plate
still I'd like to cook for you
all the same, I would want to, I am game,

If you walk my way
and I could keep my head
we could creep away in the dark
or maybe not,
we could shoot it down anyway.

Cover Letter

Cover Letter

Dear John,

From your website I learned about your need for a Building design or Architecture graduate for Dublin, Ireland. I am very interested in it. In Korea, I graduated university and have just got a master’s degree in Architecture theory & design in February 2011, so I believe that my education background is appropriate for the position.

As I wrote, my degree is Architecture theory and design, so I have abilities in both of them. I won the Best Paper Prize by my graduation thesis and the architectural design competition three times in Korea. One of them is the competition to design the main entrance area of my university which is going to be constructed. So I already have my own designed structure. I am confident that my career makes me an excellent candidate for your company. I’d like to repeat that success in your company using my academic background in Architecture design and theory.

Besides, I heard that your recent company project is to renovate old building which belongs university. When I designed the main entrance area of my university, I had researched a lot of case of university architectures. So I’m a competent person for your project. I would welcome the opportunity to interview with you. Within the next week I’ll call you to confirm that you received my e-mail and resume and to answer any questions you may have.

I very much appreciate your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Saemi Kim

Homework 2/3

Long, long times ago, when I was a primary school student, I used to ride a bicycle.
I would go to a supermarket by bicycle. I would park bicycle at the front of the super market. There was a lot of people, so I thought the spot was very safe to park my bicycle. I wouldn't be worried about it.

Oneday, I had only been shopping for 5 minutes, when I became aware that my bicycle was stolen. I felt embarrassed, I didn't know what could I do. Some minutes later, I thought that I had to find my bicycle. So I called my friends who lived nearby there. We decided to check all of corridor at these apartment complex. Each apartment had 16 floors and there were 10 apartments in the complex.

I had been looking for it for about 3 hours, when I saw a familiar silhouette in the dark. So I'd run to there. And it was the silhouette of a my bicycle!!!! It was a my bicycle!!!!!!!!! But it was different before it was stolen. It's a....... looked like a disaster. My bicycle had been covered with red & white colored paint. It was terrible. But it was absolutely my bicycle. It was standing at the front of a game center. So I decided to wait for a thief.

I had been waiting for him for 30 minutes, when I saw a kid trying to ride my bicycle. He looked so young and naive. But the kid is the thief! I couldn't believe that I saw. I went to there and I asked him. "I think this is absolutely my bicycle. Why are you trying to ride mine?" Then he was surprised, and started to cry. He said that he just wanted to get a bicycle. I felt that he was poor, but I changed my mind. Because he was the thief who painted my bicycle red&white!!!!! But I was too young, so I could only bring back my bicycle.

homework 2/2

I like to travel. Overseas travel is the best but travelling within the country is good, either.
Korea is a very beautiful country. And a countryside is more beautiful than a city. But because of the reason(more beautiful is found at more country), more beautiful place has less means of transportation.
So this happened to me when I was traveling Dam-yang which is a very beautiful countryside of Korea. I wanted to see Buddist temple, so I went to there. But when I went out the front door of the temple, buses which pass by there had been closed. Even the time was only 5 pm!!!!!!
So I was very confused. I didn't know what could I do. I had been flustering when I saw a police who was coming out from the door. So I asked him what could I do to go out. Then he said that he would bring me to the city. Besides, he let me see very beautiful road by driving. I had only been running by the car for about 10 minutes, when I saw a very beautiful road. I had wanted to drive the road, but it's impossible to me. Because I didn't have a drivers license. But he made it possible!!! And the car was the patrol car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I had felt very exited, so I said "Really really thank you!!!!!". It's a very special memory of my travel.
